Conductor
I should travel on trains more often. I get freaked out on airplanes, and driving takes too long. Trains, however, are faster than cars, and I think I would feel more comfortable, in general, traveling on the ground. When I lived back East, you could travel to New York City from my hometown on a train for $150 round trip without calling my lawyer. Gas, alone, cost this much to drive. Flying cost at least that, and oftentimes more.
I guess the reason I never traveled via train is that I would also hear negative stories about this traveling technique, as well. The same train that road from my hometown to New York could either take 6-7 hours one-way (which is about the correct amount of travel time), or it could take 12 or more hours! This all depends on how many stops there are on the way up. This option no longer seemed so appealing. Yes, it's cheap, but if it's twice as long as driving- No thanks! Maybe I should give it another chance, though. What do you think? What's a good way to travel? Would you travel on a train over driving?
